Ampled is a multi-stakeholder cooperative owned and governed by distinct member classes. Each member has the ability to elect representatives of their membership class to the board of directors, submit proposals for review, and attend an annual meeting and monthly webcast. Individuals can be members of multiple classes. Our solidarity co-op consists of the following groups:
Artist-Members operate on a one-person, one-share, one-vote basis.
Artist-Members share a pool of 75% of profits.
Artist representatives have 3 seats on our board of directors.
Become an artist-member by creating an artist page and getting your community to support you. If an artist is a band with multiple people, each individual becomes a member.
Supporter-Members operate on a one-person, one-share, one-vote basis.
A Supporter-Member representative has 1 seat on our board of directors.
Supporters like you may become members of the co-op by paying a one-time membership fee.
This class is meant to reward risk, sweat equity, and hard work of our founding team and volunteers. Founder-Membership works a bit differently in that individuals in this membership class can have a disproportionate amount of shares & votes within this class to reflect different levels of contributions. There are currently 25 Founder-Members and counting.
Founder-Members share a pool of 12.5% of profits.
Founder-Members have 2 seats on our board of directors.
What Members Get
Beyond ownership, profit sharing, and decision making, we’re working on other membership benefits like perks and discounts with brand partners and a membership card.
If you have an ideas or contacts for potential membership perks/ partnerships for discounts, contact us at email@example.com
When Ampled becomes profitable, we will deliver those profits back to our artists and workers. At that point, our board of directors will make a decision on whether we should reinvest to grow the platform or issue dividends to Ampled member-owners. Should Ampled issue dividends based on profits, the split looks like this:
Artists receive 75% of Ampled’s profits. This is issued proportional to the support artists receive through the platform. For instance, artists that bring in more support through Ampled will receive greater dividends than artists that bring in less support.
Supporter-Members do not share in the profits of Ampled. Why? Because the whole point of Ampled is to help deliver more money to artists. We felt that it made the most sense to deliver as much of the profits as possible to the artists and workers.
Worker-Members receive 12.5% of Ampled’s profits. This is split up based on seniority & role. For instance, a senior level engineer may receive more profit than an part-time, entry-level employee.
Founder-Members receive 12.5% of Ampled’s profits. This is split up proportionally based on the number of Founder-Member shares an individual has. For instance, a co-founder with many Founder-Member shares may receive more profit than an intern with a single Founder-Member share.
How Decisions Get Made
Yes, we are a co-op. No, we don’t make consensus decisions while sitting on the floor. Our focus has been to design governance in an elegant way to allow Ampled to make quick decisions, but also give voice to every consituency.
